Stock market edges up on stronger housing report


A strong housing report was counterbalanced by weak earnings from Intel and IBM, although overall results have been better than some investors had feared. Commerce said builders broke ground on new single-family houses and apartments at the fastest pace since July 2008. The housing report helped lift the yield on the 10-year Treasury note.
