Like the giant oaks and pines that now tower over it, this house has grown since it was built in the 1950s by The Architects Collaborative, the firm started by the leader of the Bauhaus movement, Walter Gropius. Both the new and original part of the home have the large windows and light-filled interiors that distinguished Modernist architecture.

The addition is separate from the main house and has been used as a library and music room. A second-floor room, reached by a spiral staircase, has a Juliet balcony. In the main house, the dining/living room has a fireplace and doors to the deck. The master bedroom is off the main room. It includes a full bath and ample closets .

The kitchen, which has two skylights, is on the smaller side and has stainless steel appliances and a breakfast nook. A bedroom with a full bath is hidden off the kitchen. Two other bedrooms are downstairs, past a large family room. The bedrooms are good sized and have access to the third full bath. The house is in the Five Fields neighborhood and fees for upkeep of common areas — a small pond is a few steps away — and access to the swimming pool are about $750 annually. There is a two-car garage. Listing broker Bill Janovitz, from Hammond Real Estate in Lexington, is holding an open house Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
