Newfield Exploration Co. shares slump

Oil and gas company Newfield Exploration Co. slumped on a third-quarter net loss of $33 million or 24 cents per share, compared with net income of $269 million or $2 last year. Results included derivative losses of $135 million and one-time expenses of $20 million. Adjusted results would have been 48 cents. Analysts expected earnings of 52 cents for the quarter.
