Verizon Communications Inc. will continue expanding operations in Massachusetts and expects to hire more engineering talent for its research and development labs in Waltham.

“We feel very good about this part of the world, and we continue to hire here,” said John Stratton, president of Verizon Enterprise Solutions, at the Boston College Chief Executives’ Club of Boston luncheon on Wednesday.
