Lowell payment processor is sold

Vantiv Inc., a Cincinnati provider of payment-processing services and related technology for merchants and financial institutions, has agreed to buy Litle & Co. for $361 million as Vantiv looks to expand its e-commerce capabilities.

Lowell-based Litle & Co. is an e-commerce payment processor for companies that sell goods and services online and through direct marketing.

Litle & Co. will become a subsidiary of Vantiv and keep its location in Lowell, Vantiv said in a press release.

Litle & Co., founded in 2001, has 200 employees.

“Today’s agreement represents the beginning of a new chapter in our company’s evolution,” Litle & Co. chief executive Tom Litle said. “By bringing these two companies together we have created a uniquely valuable partner for merchants of all sizes to help navigate the rapidly evolving payments landscape.”
