Shares of Computer Sciences Corp. leapt 17 percent, the largest gain in the S&P 500 index, after the information technology company’s earnings far exceeded analysts’ estimates. Quarterly diluted earnings of 83 cents per share compared with a loss of $18.56 a year earlier; that included a goodwill impairment charge and a US Claims settlement.
