Stocks gain as market awaits voting results


Major stock-market indexes climbed as investors awaited
election results. Still, it was a quieter Election Day for the market than last time around. On the day of the ’08 vote, which occurred during the financial meltdown, the Dow shot up 305 points, in large part because investors expected Barack Obama to win the presidential race.
