Ken Hanover, who helped engineer Northeast Health System’s merger with Lahey Health System last year, will be stepping down as Northeast chief executive after three years at the helm of the community health system that operates Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital.

Burlington-based Lahey said Wednesday that Denis Conroy, a former Northeast executive vice president and chief financial officer, would take over as interim president on Nov. 15.
