Akamai Technologies Inc., the Cambridge company that runs a massive worldwide content delivery network, has agreed to buy Verivue of Westford, the two companies said Tuesday. The press release issued by the companies did not include a purchase price, but described the planned deal as a “cash transaction” that is expected close by the end of the year. Verivue has about 60 employees. The planned deal will allow Akamai to accelerate its timetable for providing licensed content delivery network solutions.
