Akamai Technologies Inc., the Cambridge company that runs a massive worldwide content delivery network, has agreed to buy Verivue of Westford, the two companies said Tuesday.

The press release issued by the companies did not include a purchase price, but described the deal as a “cash transaction” that is expected close by the end of the year. Verivue has about 60 employees, the release said.
