Stocks fell as fears about the fiscal cliff and postponement of the latest aid package for Greece pressured indexes. Home Depot buoyed the decline amid 3d-quarter results that beat estimates as it benefits from the housing recovery and rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Sandy. Microsoft fell on the departure of Windows chief Steven Sinofsky.
