United Bank completes merger

United Financial Bancorp Inc., the holding company for United Bank, said it has completed its acquisition of New England Bancshares, the holding company for New England Bank. United Financial, which is headquartered in West Springfield, said that the organizations were merged and United Bank is the surviving entity. United Bank has 16 branch offices in the Springfield area and six branches in the Worcester area.
