Climate change threatens ski industry
Following a slow season and some dire predictions, ski resort operators offer early discounts and more attractions in bid to keep busy
Last year’s dismal winter had ski areas worried that people would be skittish about hitting the slopes this season. Some resorts put incentives and attractions in place to in an attempt to lure them to the mountains even if they don’t see snow in their backyards, and season-pass sales are even with or slightly above last year’s at many resorts. Still, as temperatures continue to rise longterm, the threat of a warming climate looms over the industry.
