Citigroup to cut more than 11,000 jobs

NEW YORK (AP) — Citigroup said Wednesday that it will cut 11,000 jobs, a bold early move by new CEO Michael Corbat.

This is a very bold move by a newly minted CEO but for Citibank to thrive, it's the right call. Retail banking's demise is similar to what's been happening at the USPS. There are so many other options for consumers that if the bank isn't nimble enough, we're gone. Watch what's about to happen to BofA. I give them no more than 180 days before they make serious changes. If we exit the year without a resolution to the financial issues in DC, you can shave that time-frame in half.
