Yet another biotech firm has opened in the backyard of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. With $40 million in funding and support from heavyweights in the biotech and pharmaceutical field, Moderna Therapeutics aims to create drugs to stimulate the production of therapeutic proteins in the body to treat such illnesses as cancer, genetic diseases, hemophilia, and diabetes. The company was founded 18 months ago and has been in stealth mode as it has conducted pre-clinical tests.
