Cambridge Isotope Laboratories looks to expand with new lease in Tewksbury

Cambridge Isotope Laboratories Inc., an Andover-based company that makes research biochemicals, is leasing 38,500 square feet of space at an office park in Tewksbury as it looks to expand its Massachusetts footprint, said a broker involved in the transaction.

The broker is the commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield. The firm said it represented BPG Properties Ltd. in the transaction. BPG is the landlord of the Highwood Office Park, a three building complex where Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, or CIL, plans to relocate some of its operations.

With a head count of about 375 employess and additional facilities in Ohio and Europe, CIL produces stable isotope labeled compounds that are used by researchers at academic institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, hospitals, and government agencies, among others.

The plan is to convert more square footage at CIL’s headquarters office in Andover into lab and research space and transfer some administrative and laboratory personnel to the Highwood Office Park; that move will likely take place some time in the spring, a CIL spokeswoman said.
