Toyota to settle acceleration case for more than $1b

DETROIT — Toyota Motor Corp. agreed Wednesday to pay more than $1 billion to settle a class-action lawsuit related to issues of unintended acceleration in its vehicles.

The proposed settlement, filed in US District Court in California, would be one of the largest of its type in automotive history. If the agreement is approved by Judge James V. Selna, Toyota would make cash payments for the loss of value on vehicles affected by multiple recalls and install special safety features on up to 3.2 million cars.

Toyota's deceptive tactics and false denials have opened Karma's door. Toyota cheated me out of approximately $1500.00. and forced me to go to small claims court, which in certain cases is a waste of time, money and court resources. I had no attorney. Toyota had an attorney. All I had on my side was the law, the facts and the evidence, which is not enough when you are going up against a crooked attorney. Going up against an attorney in mostly all cases is not recommended because a pro se litigant's verified facts and unequivocal evidence seldom trump a lying lawyer and a lying lawyer's corroborating witness. To add insult to injury, the Clerk Magistrate assigned to my case was a convicted felon. The combination of a convicted felon (judge) adjudicating legal cases in a court of law is something a pen could not explain. This convicted felon's chain of command could not explain it either so they, essentially, took the Fifth. As to Toyota's deceptive tactics, despite my service history, Toyota's key witness, a high level service manager, showed up in court armed with evidence that he fabricated himself specifically for the hearing to raise some doubt that I did not even own my own automoble. And he even lied about lying. So much for the "doctrine of clean hands." By the way Toyota, according to the record, you still owe me approximately $1500.00.
