The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States reviews acquisitions of American businesses by foreign entities in order to protect national security. Most reviews last 30 days, but more and more cases are undergoing longer investigations before being withdrawn, approved, or denied. In only a handful of cases, the president has been asked to render a decision.
