A report issued Wednesday notes that 41 fatal work injuries were reported in Greater Boston in 2011, accounting for about 28 percent of the 149 worker deaths recorded in the New England region that year.

The preliminary 2011 report is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, which is part of the US Department of Labor.
