Dunkin’ Donuts looks to California

Munchkins in Malibu? The Boston Kreme doing a star turn in LA? Dunkin’ Donuts going Hollywood?

Such could soon be the case. Dunkin’ Donuts said Wednesday that it is expanding to Southern California.

Dunkin can leave Boston for all I care. It used to be a great place to have FRESH donuts and coffee, either take-out or in a mug and they were baked fresh on the premises. Now, their prices sky-rocketed - and for stingy, stale baked goods!. Their sandwiches are automatically toasted whether you ask for it or not, because the bread is stale, and when a sandwich is a hit, they change it - for example the egg-white omelet was a large flat bread triangle. (Other sandwiches could be had the same way. It is now the size of a hockey puck and the flat bread is gone from their menu. Try having a bagel the authentic way (untoasted). It is crumbly and stale. A bagel and cream cheese is over $3.00. Even their coffee seems to have changed - maybe it's the cream. It's Probably half and half which isn't really what it's name implies anymore. Yeah,I know I'm ranting. As soon as these companies go public they squeeze all the good out and nothing is important except the bottom line. They won't make it in California because they're not what they used to be. Wanna bet?
