Rock station WMVY in Vineyard Haven has raised the $600,000 needed to continue Internet-only radio operations this year after parent company Aritaur Communications sold its FM signal, 92.7, to WBUR in November.
A staple on Martha’s Vineyard for almost three decades, WMVY faced a total shutdown if it could not raise enough money to cover annual operating costs. Its successful pledge drive will keep WMVY alive as a nonprofit online station, streaming commercial-free music.

Long live the blue lobsta!!!
If you have not tuned into this station because you are a little out of the radio signal area -- you can listen now by going Googling MV Radio, or by going to the eclectic section in itunes radio -- and its there under MV Radio. I typically listen to the regular broadcast -- amazing adult "island" contemporary, but they have a variety of other focused offerings. Worth checking out -- and very much worth supporting. (Not schilling for them; one of close to 4000 that gave a little to keep this gift of a radio station going...)
