Car dealer Ernie Boch Jr. says he’s interested in bidding for The Boston Globe

Ernie Boch Jr., head of the Norwood-based Boch Enterprises car business, issued a statement Friday saying he is interested in being a bidder for the Boston Globe, which is being sold by The New York Times Co.

Boch, who was not available for comment, said in the statement that he is “exploring the opportunity of purchasing the Boston Globe.”

He said he was teaming up with Bruce Mittman, president of Mittcom, a Newton marketing agency. The statement said the two “bring the financial resources and decades of experience in media and marketing necessary to make this purchase viable.”

The Boston Business Journal first reported on the statement.
