Bain Capital Ventures leads $10m funding round for Canadian software firm

Bain Capital Ventures of Boston led a $10 million funding round for a Canadian company whose software helps its customers to capitalize on cloud services, mobility, and Internet video.

The company is called BTI Systems, and when the new funding is included, BTI’s Monday press release said it has raised more than $33 million since the first quarter of 2011.

Besides Bain Capital Ventures, the new funding round included existing investors BDC, Covington Capital, and GrowthWorks.

In a statement, Bain Capital Ventures partner Deepak Sindwani said: “Whether it’s checking Facebook, running a quick Google search, watching a YouTube video or logging into, we’re all demanding immediate access to increasing amounts of information in the cloud from mobile devices. These simple tasks are generating an exponential increase in the amount of data being sent across networks and between data centers. BTI identified this shift early on and designed the Intelligent Cloud Connect as a purpose-built solution for cloud and content service providers. We believe it is the only solution in the market that allows next-generation providers of mobile data and video to intelligently scale their data center operations quickly, cost-effectively, and with maximum flexibility.”
