Stocks edged higher, pushing the Dow to a seventh straight day of gains. Boeing added 2% after a company executive said he’s confident the company has a fix for battery problems that grounded the 787 Dreamliner. The S&P 500 rose 5.04 to close nine points shy of its record, set in October 2007. No major economic reports drove trading. Later in the week, the government will release figures for the federal budget in February, plus reports on consumer prices and industrial production. On Friday, the Labor Department said employers had added 236,000 workers in February, pushing the jobless rate down to 7.7%, the lowest since December 2008.
