A Massachusetts woman is suing Michaels Stores Inc. for allegedly violating the state’s consumer privacy laws by collecting ZIP codes for credit card purchases and then using the information to send junk mail to customers without their permission.
The lawsuit was filed this week in US District Court in Boston by Susan D’Esposito, who is seeking class-action status in the action against the national craft goods chain. It came just after the state Supreme Judicial Court ruled retailers could not require shoppers to provide their ZIP codes on credit card purchases.

i agree. why should our personal info by extracted for marketing purposes? sue them
They forced her? Yeah, sure...usually the cashiers just enter in thestore zip code becasue they don't want the crazy people to yell at them. Suing for cash because you got some junkmail is what is wrong with our society.
If that's all that's wrong with our society, it looks like we're doing pretty well. Too bad you don't seem to be able to smell the coffee. Smile once in a while. Being a 24-hour-a-day grouch is not healthy.
