Myriant Corp., a renewable chemicals company based Quincy, said Monday that it has signed a distribution agreement with BCD Chemie to market some of its products in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
BCD Chemie, which is headquartered in Germany, will market and distribute Myriant's bio-succinic acid and Myrifilm solvent.
The annual worldwide market for succinic acid is estimated at $7.5 billion in existing and new applications, and it is used in the field of polymers, urethanes, plasticizers, and coatings, Myriant's press release noted. According to Myriant, its bio-succinic acid is made from renewable feedstocks and is chemically equivalent to petroleum-based succinic acid while providing a lower environmental footprint.

As for the company's Myrifilm solvent, it offers manufacturers of adhesives, paints, and coatings for carpets, papers, and other products a cost-effective, green alternative to chemicals that have been traditionally used in making such products, Myriant says.
In a statement, Alif Saleh, Myriant's vice president of sales and marketing, said, "We are confident that BCD Chemie can extend our sales and marketing reach, accelerate our market entrance in key European markets, and provide customers with quality support across all applications for both products."
