Shares of Danvers-based Abiomed Inc. fell following a downgrade from overweight to neutral by analysts at Piper Jaffray. They are concerned over balancing risks related to Food and Drug Administration premarket approval, and benefits from opportunities including a growing product pipeline, new markets like Japan, and favorable reimbursements. Abiomed develops, manufactures, and markets technologies designed to help or replace the pumping function of the heart.
