American Science & Engineering’s earnings and revenue missed estimates, and the security company’s CEO, Chuck Dougherty, said fiscal 2013 was challenging, Dow Jones said. Bookings were flat and revenue down, with earnings affected by a previously announced force reduction and resolution of a contract issue in the Middle East. Quarterly net income was $760,000, versus $1.34 million a year earlier. For the year, profit was $17.45 million, down from $21.42 million.
