Salesforce.com’s $2.5 billion acquisition of ExactTarget is the latest high-profile deal for a Web marketer as the largest enterprise software companies plunge into online marketing, Dow Jones reported. “This deal does put the other large software vendors in the hunt for marketing assets,” the story quoted Pat Walravens of JMP Securities as saying. Another company that might be a takeover target is Waltham-based Constant Contact Inc., Wells Fargo analyst Jason Maynard told clients.
