Bedford-based business software maker Progress Software Corp. rose after the company posted a second-quarter profit, turning around from a loss last year, driven mainly by revenue growth and fewer losses from discontinued operations. Progress said it earned a profit of $3.9 million, or 7 cents per share, compared to a loss of $1.9 million, or 3 cents, a year before. Revenue rose to $81.71 million from $74.13 million. In June, Progress agreed to sell its Apama line to Software AG. The sale is expected to close in July.
