KFC’s parent, Yum Brands Inc., said profit fell in the last quarter but that sales trends were recovering in China, which is recovering from an Avian flu scare. Yum said sales at restaurants open at least a year were down 10 percent in China for June, an improvement from a 19 percent drop in May. US sales rose 2 percent at Taco Bell, 3 percent at KFC, and 2 percent at Pizza Hut. Yum earned $281 million, or 61 cents per share, vs. $331 million, or 69 cents, a year ago.
