Yankee Candle operates more than 560 stores.

Jarden Corp. agreed to buy Yankee Candle, a private company based in South Deerfield, for $1.75 billion, adding the popular candles to its stable of more than 120 consumer brands. The deal may help New York-based Jarden, whose brands include Mr. Coffee and Crock-Pot, revive sales growth. Madison Dearborn Partners paid about $1.4 billion for Yankee Candle in 2007. Sales at Yankee Candle rose 7.4 percent to $844.2 million last year, according to a filing.
