Staples Inc. fell nearly 2.3 percent. Last week, Staples said it will open a Seattle development center to house teams responsible for driving major initiatives in areas such as next-generation digital platforms, personalization, and big data. “Staples is changing the way customers shop online,” said Faisal Masud, executive vice president. This week, Bloomberg reported Staples has removed Amazon.com lockers from its stores. Staples had hoped customers picking up Amazon orders at the lockers would also spend money at Staples. Amazon has been taking sales from Staples as it sells more office and school products, Bloomberg said.
