Bill Marimow out as Philadelphia Inquirer editor

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Inquirer editor Bill Marimow, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner known for his hard-news focus, was fired Monday over what the publisher called ‘‘philosophical differences on the direction of the company.’’

Marimow had taken the helm for a second time after local investors bought the company in April 2012.
