Boston buyers hold back in housing market

While the housing market has brightened, don’t expect the moving vans to line up on your block this summer. Zillow, the real estate website, surveyed residents in the 20 largest US markets to gauge consumer confidence. Bostonians are generally feeling better about the housing market, but they are much less likely to buy a home in the next year — especially if they already own one. Rising interest rates and a limited supply of homes make trading up difficult, said Stan Humphries, chief economist at Zillow: “It’s a dynamic like musical chairs.”
