One building will be made up of 172 rental apartments, and there will be an office building with 232,000 square feet of commercial space, the developer said. Those buildings will be located on top of a three-story base that will house stores, including a 170,000-square-foot Target.
According to Samuels & Associates, the building’s location, near several MBTA stations and the Yawkey stop on the commuter rail, will draw interest from commercial office tenants.
Samuels & Associates has been active in this part of the city. The firm was part of team that built Trilogy, a massive apartment and retail building near the corner of Brookline and Boylston streets. The firm also developed 1330 Boylston, which includes homes and restaurants such as Citizen Public House and the Japanese grill Basho.
The Van Ness was designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects. Construction of the project is being led by John Moriarty & Associates.
