DreamWorks Animation shares jumped on the studio’s naming of Fazal Merchant as its chief financial officer. He will replace Lew Coleman, who was elevated to vice chairman. Merchant is joining DreamWorks from DirecTV, where he was a senior vice president and finance chief of DirectTV Latin America. Merchant, who will join the studio in September, had also worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland as a managing director and in the investment banking division of Barclays Capital.
