Former New England Patriot Joe Andruzzi is poised to serve coffee and doughnuts at several Honey Dew Donuts shops Monday as he looks to get out the word about the new partnership between his Joe Andruzzi Foundation and the Honey Dew chain.
Andruzzi created the foundation in 2008 to help cancer patients and their families make mortgage, rent, and utility payments during financially-challenging time, and to fund pediatric brain cancer research.
Andruzzi was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt’s lymphoma in 2007. After treatment, he is now disease-free.
Plans call for Andruzzi to put in appearances at Honey Dew Donuts shops in North Attleborough, Mansfield, and Canton as well as Lincoln, R.I.
Honey Dew Donuts will feature Joe Andruzzi Foundation branding on its coffee cups and in stores. A special “(Up)Beat red and blue-sprinkled, chocolate frosted donut” and $1 window decals also will be unveiled. A portion of the doughnut’s proceeds will benefit the foundation.
Honey Dew Donuts also has pledged to match and donate all proceeds of the window decals, dollar for dollar, to the foundation through Oct. 31.
Based in Plainville, Honey Dew Donuts has more than 140 locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
