General Electric’s incoming CEO has at least one thing in common with New Englanders, he’s a big Red Sox fan.

In fact, John Flannery recently went as far as to name his new puppy after Mookie Betts.

During a Q&A Monday hosted by GE executives and live streamed on Facebook, Flannery was asked about his new puppy, a 12-week-old black lab.

“For the Red Sox fans out there, his name is Mookie Betts. So he answers to Mookie or the promise of food,” Flannery said, crediting his wife, Tracey, with the idea.

GE announced early Monday morning that the company’s longtime CEO, Jeff Immelt, would step down this summer.

Flannery, who also said Monday he’s planning to move to Boston from Chicago, will take over the job in August.
