Traveling between Worcester and New York City will get a little easier starting next May, when JetBlue Airways Corp. begins offering daily trips between New England’s second largest city and the Big Apple.
The route will launch May 3, 2018, JetBlue chief executive Robin Hayes announced at a Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce breakfast event Thursday. The company had previously announced plans for the route in February, but without a set start date. The daily round trip includes a flight from Worcester to John F. Kennedy International Airport in the morning, and the return leg from New York in the evening.
JetBlue is the only commercial passenger airline at Worcester Regional Airport, offering daily flights to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. The airline is also the most frequent carrier at Boston’s Logan International Airport, which like Worcester Regional is owned by the Massachusetts Port Authority.Adam Vaccaro can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
