Massachusetts tax-filing website experiencing delays

The state Department of Revenue’s online tax system is experiencing long delays, and residents are reporting having trouble with the site.

The agency warned people trying to file before Tuesday’s deadline that the site, WebFile for Income, is not operating normally.

“WebFile for Income is experiencing delays and slowness issues and technical support is working to correct the issue,” a message on the department’s website said. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Nate Rosenbloom, 21, of Waltham, on Monday said he gave up Monday on the online system after he struggled to register an account. He had been trying since 3 p.m. Sunday but decided to print out forms that can be sent in via the Postal Service. “I thought it would be easier,” Rosenbloom said.

State officials on Monday said the Revenue Department “is actively working to resolve this issue so that filers can have an uninterrupted experience.”
