Snub of Susan Rice for nomination shows power of boys’ club

AS A lifelong Democrat, I was perplexed by the steamrolling of the nomination for Susan Rice as secretary of state, as John Kerry waited in the wings to accept the nomination instead (“Kerry tapped to lead State Department,” Page A1, Dec. 22).

All this behind-the-scenes planning to have Kerry in place so Scott Brown can march into his slot? This is the “old boy’s network” at its worst.
