The breaking news alert from Boston.com landed in my e-mail box: “Jimmie Johnson wins the Daytona 500.” Who cared about that? The real reason the alert was sent was in the next line: “Danica Patrick finishes eighth.”
Patrick has taken the racing world by storm. And she’s done so because she is, to be blunt, hot.

Even more true of Marissa Mayer who, unlike Danica Patrick or Anna Kornikova, has actually won something, but the sisterhood of the mommybloggers are still ripping her.
Interestingly, what Danica Patrick, Marissa Mayer, Anna Kournikova, and a majority of career-successful women and men share is a level of skill, determination, commitment, and self-confidence nurtured at an early age by a combination of caring mentors and physiologic inheritance. Members of our species who may be significantly influenced by media packaging and labeling, might be wise to reexamine their individual viewpoint purchases rather than objectifying those who benefit from the industrious application of their gifts. Indeed, one could easily argue, that failure to leverage such opportunities, whether posed by salacious advertisers or erudite pundits would, at best, be considered naive.
