My parents were in town recently to celebrate my mother’s 75th birthday, and their itinerary included, among stops at the Public Garden, Via Matta, and a Huntington Theatre performance, a visit to the Boston Athenaeum. Neither my dad, who grew up in Dedham, nor my mom, who was raised in Wellesley, had ever been inside the building at 10 ½ Beacon St., and they thought it was about time.
