India Hicks, the former model, present-day designer, author, and (very, very) distant successor to the British throne, was at the Boston Design Center Wednesday to talk about her father, David Hicks, the famed British designer best known for his work in the 1960s and 1970s. India, who was a bridesmaid to Lady Diana, also served as a network commentator for last year’s royal wedding and most recently for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. She currently lives in the Bahamas, but there was a time when she lived in Boston. “It’s the first time I’ve been back in 20 years,” she said. “I followed a boyfriend to Boston and ended up a student at the New England School of Photography. A rather surprised roommate of my boyfriend asked how long I was staying, and I told him three years.”
