Marshfield’s own Steve Carell was at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Monday night for the premiere of “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” with the comedy’s director-writer, Lorene Scafaria. Carell will come home later this summer to film “The Way, Way Back” around Marshfield, where he owns — and his sister-in-law runs — the Marshfield Hills General Store. “Seeking a Friend” hits theaters on Friday. . . . Also on Monday night, Carell’s former costar on “The Office,” Boston funnygirl Mindy Kaling, was in West Hollywood for the Second Annual Critics’ Choice Awards in Beverly Hills with actor Chris Messina, the costar of her new Fox comedy, “The Mindy Project.” Messina’s local film “Fairhaven” just closed out the Provincetown International Film Festival.
