It’s a girl for Red Sox GM Ben Cherington

The All-Star break couldn’t come at a better time for Sox GM Ben Cherington, and not just because the home team stumbled badly to finish the first half, losing three of four to the hated Yankees. No, Cherington could use a few days off this week because he’s got his hands full at home. Why? Wife Tyler Tumminia delivered the couple’s first child on Saturday, a baby girl named Adwen. Mother and daughter are apparently doing fine. Cherington and Tumminia, a marketing exec at the Goldklang Group, a New York-based sports consulting and management firm, were married in April at Brooklyn Borough Hall. They’re planning a larger wedding celebration with family and friends in September.
