sunday’s child

Sunday’s Child is Nathaniel, 7

Hi! My name is Nathaniel. I love hearing the voice of my caregiver.

Nathaniel is 7. A stroke at birth left him with cerebral palsy, visual impairment, and seizure disorders. He attends school every day and loves being sung to and talked to.

Nathaniel is nonambulatory and nonverbal. He communicates by smiling, babbling, and crying.

This lovable little boy of Hispanic descent would do best with a family experienced in caring for a medically needy child who needs total care and has an unknown long-term prognosis.

If Nathaniel could have his wish, he would have a family to show him patience and to love him.

Special adoption party this month

Join us on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ironstone Farm in Andover at an adoption party for families interested in adopting children with intellectual and/or physical special needs.

Ironstone is a therapeutic horseback riding facility.

From 11 to noon, families will hear from a panel of adoptive parents experienced in special needs adoption, and from service providers who can support an adopting family.

At noon, children will arrive and families and children will spend the rest of the day riding and participating in arts and crafts activities. Lunch will be provided.

To learn more about Nathaniel, or to RSVP to the adoption party, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org.

The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have “a permanent place to call home.”
