A new book provides the ultimate quiz on ‘Yankee Doodle’

Jonathan Wiggs/Globe Staff

You think you’re a diehard New Englander. You know how many steps are inside the Bunker Hill Monument (294), you know who “Boston Billy” is (hint, he won our marathon a few times), you know what dessert the Omni Parker House is famous for inventing (pssst, it’s got chocolate and cream). That’s mere child’s play. If you can answer half of these questions, consider yourself a true yankee. And if you answer all 20 of them, well, congratulations (but you might want to get out in the sun in a little more, because if you know this much New England trivia, we’re a little worried about you). In their new book, “Legends, Lore and Secrets of New England,” Thomas D’Agostino and Arlene Nicholson have created quite the compilation of New England history.

The quiz was written by Thomas D’Agostino and Arlene Nicholson, whose new book, “Legends, Lore and Secrets of New England,” is published by The History Press.
