News footage shows the couple getting off Air Force One in Rome, where they will visit the Vatican and meet Pope Francis on Wednesday. They paused at the top of the stairs to wave to the crowd. So far, so normal.

They were about to descend when President Trump made a move for his wife’s hand, only to have her slyly slip it away. That left Trump to brave the stairs on his own — and the rest of the world to wonder: What game is FLOTUS playing?
