Is your freezer overflowing? Time for some spring cleaning

Many people fill their freezers with ingredients for quick and easy meals that may or may not ever make it to the table. Others stock up on seasonal foods for the long winter, but come spring, when beautiful, local produce returns to stores, those frozen packages don’t look all that appealing. Local freezer hoarders say their shelves are crammed with veggie burgers, cooked brown rice, flax seed, fried potatoes, pie crusts (often broken), “chicken nugget things,” as one cook put it, cookies from high school fund-raisers, really old hot dogs, really old hot dog buns, and vodka. Time to eat down the freezer.
